Uprise Bikes and Maindy Flyers are pleased to announce a new key sponsorship deal for both the Maindy Flyers Academy and the 2026 Llandow Revival Race Series.
The partnership represents a significant investment in youth cycling in Wales, supporting the development of young riders and the return of closed-circuit racing opportunities in South Wales.
The Maindy Flyers Academy, launched earlier this year, brings together a group of talented young riders aged 14–16 for a structured development programme built around long-term athlete development. Thanks to the support of Uprise Bikes, the club has been able to fully fund a 12-week strength and conditioning programme for Academy riders at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The programme launched on Monday 20th April and is designed to build robust, resilient athletes and support progression into Welsh and British Cycling pathways.
This work forms part of Maindy Flyers’ role as a selected focus club for talented riders within the British Cycling Club Development Programme, which supports clubs to recognise, develop and nurture emerging talent while strengthening coaching environments.
Alongside this, Uprise Bikes has taken on the role of title sponsor for the Llandow Revival Race Series, which launches on 29th April and runs across six rounds through to September at Llandow Circuit. The series marks the return of regular closed-circuit racing to the venue, providing vital opportunities for youth and adult riders across Wales and beyond.
Mike Richards, Chair of Maindy Flyers, said:
“Support like this makes a real difference. Uprise Bikes have backed both our rider development and the opportunities for them to race, which sits right at the heart of what we’re trying to achieve as a club.
The Academy is about developing riders the right way, giving them the physical foundations and support to progress, while the Llandow Series is about creating accessible, high-quality racing opportunities. Having Uprise Bikes behind both is huge for us and for cycling in South Wales.”
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening grassroots cycling and creating clear pathways for young riders to develop within the sport.
Steve Edgell, speaking on behalf of Uprise Bikes, added:
“We’re really proud to be supporting Maindy Flyers. The work they do to develop young riders and grow cycling in Wales is outstanding.
The Academy is exactly the kind of programme the sport needs, and the return of racing at Llandow is something the whole cycling community has been calling for. We’re excited to be part of both.”
With strong demand for youth cycling and a renewed appetite for local racing, the collaboration aims to play a key role in shaping the next generation of Welsh cyclists.
