Stagecoach Group employees have benefited from £1-million worth of new bikes as part of the organisation’s bikes-for-work scheme. The scheme operated by provider, Cycle Solutions, is believed to be one of the most successful ever run by a UK employer.
The bus and coach organisation has also improved the facilities at its bus depots for staff who cycle to work by introducing better bike racks, lockers and showers.
Employees can choose from 140 different bike brands, and make both tax and national insurance (NI) savings through the scheme. It also covers cycling equipment.
Les Warneford, managing director at Stagecoach UK Bus, said: “This is proving to be a very successful scheme and I’m delighted that so many of our employees have take advantage of the offer.”
Cycle Solutions have been providing road shows at Stagecoach offices and depot's across the UK since the beginning of the year. "It's great to see the staff and management at Stagecoach Group really embracing the cycle to work scheme" said Cycle Solutions Director, Steve Edgell. "As well as providing bikes to employees, we have been working with Stagecoach to provide free cycle parking facilities."
